As any prominent awards ceremony draws close, there’s always an outcry to include fresh award types to honor overlooked contributions and satisfy the spirits of fans who have specialized interests.
A fellow writer previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. The same goes for board games, which is someone's personal cause. Yet I need to apologize in advance for pushing forward just as with other single-minded supporters, there's a strong justification for why my demand stands as crucial and significant. Here's the proposal: There should be a classification for brain-teasing titles.
Organizing Gaming Categories
Classifying creative works isn't exact; it’s very subjective, and inevitably start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that cinema institutions steer clear of genre categories. Yet it remains an unavoidable compromise within the realm of video games, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them one unified medium.
For comprehensive acknowledgment of interactive entertainment excellence to gain proper attention, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, genre categories are essential.
Present Award Structure
Prominent interactive entertainment events offer these genre categories for Action, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these award types successfully include a lot of ground, and you can find room for numerous titles.
This doesn't apply to puzzle games. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Think about these outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: building puzzles of one title, fast-paced pattern recognition of another game, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.
Acknowledgment Issues
There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, except when they manage to fit classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging small studio competitions.
- An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated in any category during that awards season
- Another imaginative release was excluded that year
- Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment recently
- Only a few logic titles managed to sneak into niche award types
Significance of Puzzle Games
Commonly they're small games, but the art of the puzzle game carries substantial weight. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most engaged experiences globally maintaining this status for over a decade.
The iconic tile-matching title competes with popular creative games competing to become best-selling game of all time; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks to the art of video games, and they are in conversation with almost every other genre.
Proposal and Rationale
Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. One could readily select a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — perhaps, with difficulty, since numerous excellent so many good games out.
Restating the point, these represent titles lacking appropriate categories at major gaming awards. Puzzle game makers operate at the challenging frontier of video game design, producing among essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Just like film action specialists, they merit acknowledgment. Don't make them wait decades.
