I'll overwhelm 'credible combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight round match which will be streamed live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to publicize the upcoming bout.

Former two time world heavyweight champion Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive mismatch - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I'm going to damage his features and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm superior," Joshua, 35 years old, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I will genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Civil Interaction

In spite of those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - normally recognized for his dramatics - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul rather criticized ex Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, took aim at British opponent Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] is better than Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Jake Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or faded names since becoming pro.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's largest financial successes, consistently making massive paydays.

Forecast and Belief

The 28-year-old anticipated a stoppage in rounds four or five and stated he would derail the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly in the works for two years from now.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul said.

Size Difference

As Joshua and Paul participated in the usual face-off, with their height and weight contrast evident, it emphasized just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the match is actually going ahead.
