A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
